To a Great 2010...

Hope this finds you all well, and looking forward to a great, safe and healthy 2010.

Cheers!

Welcome to our Chicken Farm...

Chicken Farm This is where our State's elected leadership resides, argues, postures, and occasionally get something done. With the current economic environment, they no longer have any where to hide. Unless we, the voter, let them.

Voters of Hawaii, watch and remember. Participate in the process, make your voices heard and, ultimately, vote accordingly. Everything these bobbing chicken head people do is to curry favor for your vote. Our voter apathy works in their favor; fewer people to please.

Speaking of Bacon...

Going through NPR's archives, and noticed the article on Bacon and sweets.

And I was only looking for the article on cookbooks... Just like shopping; don't food shop while hungry.

Bacon and Eggs

Ali'i Burger, Bacon, Egg over-easy, Side Fries

Something about yolk running down your arm laced with bacon and burger fat...Yums!

I blame the Food Network for this sudden fat-influx; 'tis the season!

Starting out on the 2009 season...

slightly early happy hallow'een

It's going to be rough. Maybe people will take the time to celebrate the meaning of the season, instead of focusing on the commercial holidays.

Of course, keep spending anyway; it's the only way we will dig ourselves out of this mess.

Furloughed!

We start twice-monthly "Furlough Fridays" this week. Look at this as a good and bad thing.

- We need the break; finding time for vacations has been tough.
- I may be able to do some maintenance now.

We'll see how this works out.

Touching base...

Ah, haven't even looked for too long.

Um, work is getting even worse; "reality" has hit some people in the worst way, and I am not talking about lay-offs. It's amazing how stress can "unmask" the real person, and that can be really ugly. On top of that, once all that "fluff" is blown away, some people get really, um, "stupider" (is that a word?).

Others that wear their hearts and thoughts on their sleeves are actually doing better; nothing unexpected, what you see is what you get. I can only guess that they are really torn up inside, though. Those are the ones I worry about and feel most sorry for.

Head down, ears up, push forward...

Will the axeman cometh?

Waiting for the big budget axe to fall, and us little people have no idea where. Frozen into a no-buy mode until I know I will still have a job in the near-future. In a time when the economy needs people to spend, this is stupid.

Earth Day 2009

dead

Ironically, writing about "Earth Day" in a tech medium. But it doesn't mean "abandon," just "manage."

Manage our resources, so we have the opportunity to continue doing this.

Getting one in

it's time...

Nasty season... Hope you are able to hold on to, and appreciate, what you have.

(Wow, long interlude)

Arggh!

repeat after me: be glad you still have a job...

Crap has been breaking left and right... but I still have a job, be as it may.

Think happy thoughts...!!!!

Interlude

just another sunset in hawaii...
It was a nice day to contemplate what we do have, and this is something that cannot be taken away.

*sigh* Back to it...

Looking for money...

shell game

Ah, the State of the State, and it's doom and gloom. Rather short of money, warm-bodies vs. programs, we swim or sink together, blah-blah, rah-rah.

I think they've stolen all the monies they can, and have squeezed more from where they can... time to cut. It is not going to be pretty.

Tis the Season, 2009

rotunda wide, h

Ah, it's another Legislative season. But this year, the belts are a lot tighter. Lots of egos, turf-protection. We shall see what the session brings us this time.

Rain, then shoot

85mm f1.4 on 36mm kenko extension

Always nice to shoot after it rains. The air is clean, and there is a lot of stuff to reflect light.

Drops are fun.

Happy New Year 2009

It is 6AM, local. Just got back from kicking off some maintenance stuff at work.

It is raining, there is a thunderstorm just offshore, and I am tired. Hope this is not a portent of things this year.

Happy New Year, y'all!
